Floating district Almere Pampus

Date: June 2011
Place: Almere Pampus

The transport system proposed includes podboats, a public but personal transport on demand. These boats are automatic and powered by electricity. All the electricity comes from renewable energy sources (photovoltaic panels), installed on the roofs of boats and stations. Each station has a bike park and some carts which can be borrowed to transport things more easily. Both bikes and carts can be loaded in the podboat.
The podboat transport system is dimensioned for a district of 3000 inhabitants. The system has 20 stations with 1 or 2 podboats. The stations are planned to be maximum 150 meters far, which is a distance covered in 2 minutes. The public spaces are also planned to be accessible in 2 minutes.
