16-10-2014 Deltas 2014: Presentations and conclusions workshop Floating Cities available

The most important conclusions of the session are:

  1. The main obstacle for the implementation of floating housing is the need for an integrated approach (which includes ecological, socio-economic and institutional factors);
  2. Floating cities could fit in the local culture, however this culture is always different. When any local culture is not taken into account successful implementation might fail;
  3. In the Netherlands floating housing is mainly granted to the rich part of society, while in Asia the focus lies on the poorest parts of society. Floating development for both classes is needed.

The conclusions, along with a short session summary, can be found in the meeting report, which is available from our website. Download meeting report.
